Inspired by 'The Cask of Amontillado' by Edgar Allan Poe, NMT2D drags you into the dark caverns of emotional torment to test your psychological limits. However, unlike the story, and following your refusal to break, you emerge defiant and alive, yelling IT'S NOT MY TIME TO DIE!
“‘Not My Time to Die’ is about being trapped in situations that feel impossible to escape, but still finding the strength to endure,” the band explain. “We wanted the song to feel like pressure building — not just musically, but emotionally — until it finally breaks.”
The single’s artwork was created by Belfast-based artist Clio, visually representing themes of tension, confinement and eventual release, mirroring the emotional core of the track.
